Paulo Pires do Vale
Paulo Pires do Vale, he is the Commissioner of the National Plan of Arts. Professor, essayist and curator, he has a degree and a master's degree in Philosophy from FCSH, Universidade Nova de Lisboa; at Architecture at UAL and at Escola Superior de Educadores de Infância Maria Ulrich ( School of Early Childhood Educators Maria Ulrich), where he coordinated the Postgraduate Course in Artistic Practices and Pedagogical Processes. He wrote, “Everything is something else". "Desire in the Phenomenology of the Spirit of Hegel" (Colibri, 2006) and numerous essays for books, magazines and catalogs of collective and individual exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad, focusing on the relationship between art, education and society. As a curator, the highlights are «Ana Vieira, Muros de Abrigo» (Carlos Machado Museum, Ponta Delgada, and Center for Modern Art - Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, 2010 - 2011); «Endless tasks. When art and books are limitless »(Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, 2012); "Visitation". The Archive as memory and promise »(Igreja de São Roque and Gallery of temporary exhibitions - Museu de São Roque, 2014); «Júlio Pomar, Treaty of the eyes» (Atelier - Museu Júlio Pomar, 2014). He was curator of «Ana Hatherly and the Baroque» (Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, 2017) and Museo de las Artes Universidad de Guadalajara (Mexico, 2018); «From taking natural pole. Inquiry into the Portuguese portrait »(with Filipa Oliveira and Anísio Franco, National Museum of Ancient Art, 2018); or even «Infinite Tasks. "When art and books are unlimited" (SESC E Biblioteca Brasiliana Mindlin - University of São Paulo, Brazil, 2018). He was part of the jury of prizes such as the AICA Plastic Arts Award - Ministry of Culture, Architecture, Arts Support Competition digital, plastic arts, design and photography from DGArtes or from the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation Scholarship Calls. Portugal at the 58th Venice Biennale, in 2019. President of AICA - Portugal since 2015.
