Frederico Lopes

Frederico Lopes holds a Degree in Psychology, a MEd in Educational Sciences and Currently, and a PhD in Human Movement Studies from the Faculade de Motricidade Humana-Universidade de Lisboa (Faculty of Human Kinetics-University of Lisbon). He is a full professor of Motor Behavior at Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, Universidade de Lisboa (Faculty of Human Kinetics-University of Lisbon) and a researcher in the areas of Game and Child Development, Environmental Psychology, and Sociology of Childhood. He also plays the role of manager, consultant, has delivered several training workshops for the rehabilitation and design of playspaces and playgrounds, related with children. He is a invited professor at ISPA- Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada, teaching the curricular unit of Playfulness and Culture in Education, within the scope of the Master Degree in Pre-School Education. Frederico Lopes is a co-founder, member of the Board and Brinconauta (Playworker) of “1,2,3, Macaquinho do Xinês”, a non-profit association, whose mission is to defend the 31st right of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the promotion of spaces and opportunities for children to play freely in different contexts of their daily lives, according to the principles and practice of Playwork. A founding member of the Portuguese branch of the International Play Association (IPA Portugal) and Portuguese representative in the International Play Association (IPA). He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Associação Viver a Infância. He holds the co-authorship of the book "Brincar em Cascais" (Playing in Cascais"), reissued by the Associação de Profissionais de Educação de Infância (Association of Childhood Education Professionals) with the title "Brincar em todo o lado" ("Playing everywhere"). He enjoys spending time with family and friends, enjoying the green spaces, and writing songs, singing and playing the guitar.
